President William Ruto has called for a strengthened Africa–Europe partnership built on “sovereign equality, mutual benefit and shared prosperity,” as he pitched Kenya as the gateway to Africa’s 1.4 billion-strong market during a business forum in Brussels.
Speaking at the Kenya–Belgium Business Forum, Ruto said Africa represents the biggest economic opportunity of the current century, citing its resources, talent and growing consumer base as key drivers of global growth. He argued that Kenya is strategically positioned as the entry point to the continent.
The President showcased investment opportunities in agribusiness, logistics, technology, clean energy and the circular economy, inviting Belgian and Benelux businesses to partner with Kenya in value addition, manufacturing, innovation and industrial development.
“We are committed to building stronger partnerships that expand trade, create jobs and unlock shared prosperity,” Ruto said.
During the visit, the President also officiated the launch of the Kenya–Benelux Chamber of Commerce, a new platform designed to connect Kenyan businesses with investors and markets in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.
The Chamber is expected to serve as a permanent bridge for trade and investment flows between Kenya and the region, strengthening private-sector ties and facilitating new business partnerships.
Ruto’s engagements in Brussels form part of a wider European tour aimed at deepening economic cooperation, attracting investment and expanding Kenya’s access to global markets, particularly in high-value sectors and green industrialisation.
