MOMBASA, Kenya — Coast radio personality Robby Dallaz, real name Robert Matano, has returned to the microphone after spending nearly a year away from radio, marking a fresh chapter in a broadcasting career that has earned him a strong following among young audiences.
Dallaz rose to prominence on the Coast radio scene after joining Radio Kaya, where he hosted the youthful mid-morning entertainment programme Kaya Flavaz between 2018 and 2024. His popularity extended beyond the Coast, with audiences also following his shows through digital platforms.
Before joining Radio Kaya, Dallaz worked at Pilipili FM, an urban station that was later rebranded as Msenangu FM. His years in radio also saw him interact closely with musicians and music producers, including a stint managing artists associated with Kaya Records, a subsidiary of Radio Kaya.
Dallaz later moved to Mo Radio, a Coast-based urban station, where he initially hosted alongside Caroline Mkamburi on the Kaya Flavaz programme before the two went their separate professional ways.
After leaving Mo Radio, Dallaz stayed away from radio for almost a year before making a comeback at the same station, where he took charge of the evening drive show Drive Through.
His return to the microphone has been met with renewed excitement among his followers, with the broadcaster once again engaging audiences during the evening show from 6 p.m.
Known for his lively presentation style and ability to connect with young listeners, Dallaz appears to be using his return to radio to open a new chapter in his career after a period away from the microphone.
