
MOMBASA, Kenya – Members of the Luo community from various wards in Nyali Constituency on Thursday held a luncheon meeting with Chief Officer Department of Public Service Administration, Mombasa County. Pauline Oginga, where they conveyed their condolences to the family of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga following the recent loss of his brother.
The meeting brought together community leaders, elders, youth representatives, and residents from across the constituency, providing a platform for discussions on leadership, community development, empowerment, and social cohesion.
During the gathering, participants commended Chief Pauline Oginga for what they described as her dedication and commitment to public service since assuming various administrative responsibilities. They praised her leadership record, citing her contribution to community engagement initiatives, conflict resolution efforts, and government service delivery within the area.
Speaking during the luncheon, Oginga thanked members of the community for their support and solidarity during the mourning period.
“I thank you for this humane gesture. As the Luo community, we have all lost a great and true leader who transformed the country’s democracy in many ways. We are still mourning, but we thank God for giving us such a dedicated leader who always put the interests of Kenya at heart in every situation,” said Oginga.
Speakers at the event noted that her performance in public administration had earned her recognition among residents and stakeholders, making her one of the notable government administrators serving in Nyali Constituency.
The leaders also expressed confidence in her leadership abilities, citing her experience, accessibility, and track record in community development matters. They said her continued involvement in local initiatives had strengthened relations between residents and government institutions.
Beyond the condolence message to the Odinga family, the luncheon served as an avenue for residents to deliberate on issues affecting the community and explore ways of enhancing unity, inclusivity, and socio-economic development within Nyali Constituency.
The meeting concluded with calls for continued collaboration among community members, local leaders, and government officials to address development challenges and promote peaceful coexistence across the constituency.
