NAIROBI, Kenya—Swahilipot Hub has stepped up efforts to strengthen Kenya’s innovation ecosystem after convening ambassadors, members of the diplomatic community, development partners, private sector leaders and senior officials from the Mombasa County Government for a high-level breakfast meeting aimed at unlocking new opportunities for young innovators.
The engagement, held at the JW Marriott Hotel in Nairobi, showcased the organisation’s decade-long work in empowering young people through technology, innovation, entrepreneurship, arts and culture while unveiling preparations for the seventh edition of Pwani Innovation Week 2026.
According to Swahilipot Hub, the meeting sought to deepen strategic partnerships, attract investment and strengthen international collaboration to support youth-led enterprises and position the Coast region as a centre for innovation, the blue economy and the creative industries.
The forum brought together stakeholders from government, the diplomatic corps, development agencies and the private sector to explore ways of increasing access to mentorship, financing, technical skills and global markets for young innovators.
Swahilipot Hub Chairperson and Chief Youth Mentor Mahmoud Noor said meaningful investment in young innovators is key to unlocking Kenya’s economic potential and creating sustainable livelihoods.
“For the last ten years, we have witnessed young people transform simple ideas into impactful businesses, digital solutions and creative enterprises. Our goal is to build an ecosystem where innovation is nurtured from concept to commercialisation, allowing young people to create jobs rather than simply search for them,” Noor said.
He said partnerships with governments, development agencies, investors and the diplomatic community are critical in providing innovators with the networks, resources and exposure needed to compete in regional and global markets.
“Innovation thrives through collaboration. No single institution can build an innovation ecosystem on its own. By bringing together public institutions, development partners, investors and industry leaders, we are opening doors for our youth to access opportunities that were previously beyond their reach. This is how we build globally competitive innovators from the Coast and across Kenya,” he added.
Noor noted that Pwani Innovation Week has evolved into one of the country’s leading platforms for showcasing emerging technologies, entrepreneurship and creative talent, providing innovators with opportunities to connect with investors, policymakers and industry leaders.
According to Swahilipot Hub, the organisation has, over the past decade, equipped thousands of young people with digital and entrepreneurial skills while supporting innovators to develop solutions that address challenges in sectors including education, health, climate action, the blue economy and financial technology.
Participants at the breakfast meeting reaffirmed their commitment to supporting initiatives that strengthen Mombasa’s position as an emerging innovation hub while fostering inclusive economic growth through technology and entrepreneurship.
Swahilipot Hub said it will continue building partnerships that connect local innovators with global opportunities as preparations gather pace for Pwani Innovation Week 2026, a platform expected to bring together innovators, investors, policymakers and technology leaders from Kenya and beyond.
