Kwale, County—A Form Three student at Kwale High School has died after collapsing while playing with fellow students on the school field, with authorities awaiting a post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death.
The student reportedly collapsed on Wednesday afternoon and was rushed to Kwale Hospital, where he was later confirmed dead.
School principal Mike Mutua and Kwale County Director of Education Ahmed Abdi confirmed the incident, saying the student’s family had already been notified.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), education officials and the family are expected to witness a post-mortem examination at Kwale Hospital mortuary as investigations seek to establish what led to the student’s death.
The circumstances surrounding the collapse remain unclear, and the cause of death has not yet been established.
The incident leaves the student’s family and school community mourning as they await answers on the circumstances that led to the sudden loss of a learner.
