For years, Caroline Mkamburi and Robert Matano were viewed as one of the most vibrant young couples in the Coastal entertainment scene.
The duo won listeners’ hearts through their chemistry on air while co-hosting the popular Kaya Flavas mid-morning show at Radio Kaya before later moving together to Mo Radio.
Their relationship appeared strong both professionally and personally, with many fans admiring how the two complemented each other on radio.
However, behind the public smiles and entertaining broadcasts, all may not have been well.
In a lengthy emotional social media statement, Mkamburi has now opened up about what she described as years of pain, fear and suffering during their relationship, making serious allegations against her former partner.
The media personality claimed she endured repeated physical abuse during their five-year relationship, alleging that she was assaulted on multiple occasions, threatened and emotionally distressed.
According to her statement, she allegedly suffered injuries that required medical treatment and surgeries, while also claiming the experience left her battling long-term health complications.
“It has taken me a lot of courage to do this… I have been silent for far too long,” part of her statement read.
Mkamburi further alleged that despite attempts at reconciliation and forgiveness, the relationship allegedly remained toxic and abusive.
She also claimed she had remained silent for over a year and a half despite persistent online criticism and rumours surrounding their breakup.
The former Mo Radio presenter further hinted that she may soon reveal more details through a podcast interview in Nairobi.
Her revelations have since sparked widespread reactions online, with fans expressing shock over the collapse of what many considered one of Coast radio’s most admired relationships.
The two media personalities had eventually taken separate career paths, with Mkamburi moving to Milele FM under Mediamax Network Limited, while Robby Dallaz later exited Mo Radio.
“Despite the bitter fallout, sources close to the situation and exchanges shared online suggest that Robby Dallaz has repeatedly attempted to seek forgiveness and reconciliation with Mkamburi following their separation.
However, Mkamburi has maintained that she has moved on from the relationship, publicly stating that she is single and has no intention of getting back together with the former radio presenter.
Her stance has drawn mixed reactions online, with some fans urging healing and closure, while others have praised her for speaking out and prioritising her wellbeing after what she describes as years of emotional and physical suffering.”
“As the discussion continues online, the story has also reignited conversations around gender-based violence, toxic relationships and the hidden struggles public figures sometimes endure behind carefully curated images.”
