NAIROBI, Kenya — President William Ruto will address the nation on Thursday evening in a special broadcast that State House says will focus on Kenya’s future and the country’s long-term development vision.
The address, scheduled for 7:00 p.m. from State House, Nairobi, comes days after the President received a report proposing a new national development framework expected to succeed Vision 2030.
In a promotional message released ahead of the address, State House said President Ruto would challenge Kenyans to embrace an ambitious national vision, arguing that countries transform by setting bold goals and working collectively to achieve them.
“A nation is not ultimately defined by where it begins, or where it stands today, but by the future it has the courage to build,” the promotional message states.
According to State House, the President will urge citizens to take an active role in shaping Kenya’s future, saying national development is a shared responsibility between government and the people.
The address comes at a politically significant moment following heightened debate over the country’s economic direction and preparations for the 2027 General Election.
It also follows the ruling United Democratic Alliance’s heavy defeat in the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election earlier this month, a result that triggered internal calls within the party to reassess its political strategy ahead of the next general election.
