NYALI TRAGEDY: Woman, child killed as teen survives attack

NYALI, Mombasa County—A woman and her young child have been killed in Nyali, Mombasa, following an alleged family attack that left another child injured, with police holding a suspect in connection with the incident.

The incident happened on Friday, September 25, amid reported family-related conflicts, according to police.

Police said the suspect allegedly attacked members of his family, killing his wife and one of their children before placing the child’s body in a pit latrine.

The suspect reportedly attempted to dispose of his wife’s body at the same location but was unable to do so.

A 14-year-old Grade Nine pupil survived the attack after sustaining injuries and managed to escape.

The injured teenager was rescued by a Good Samaritan and rushed to Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital, where he was admitted for treatment.

Police said the suspect later presented himself at Nyali Police Station, where he was taken into custody as detectives began investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Officers recovered the bodies and transferred them to the Coast General mortuary pending postmortem examinations.

Police are investigating the reported family conflict and the circumstances leading to the alleged killings.

The incident has shocked residents in Nyali as investigators work to establish what happened before the attack and piece together the events surrounding the deaths.
